Hyakkimaru

Born into a world of blood and betrayal, Hyakkimaru is the eldest son of Lord Daigo Kagemitsu, a daimyo who made a pact with twelve demons to ensure his land's prosperity. The price was Hyakkimaru’s body; he was born without skin, limbs, eyes, ears, or a nose. Miraculously surviving after being cast away, he was discovered by a prosthetic maker named Jukai, who raised him and provided him with artificial limbs and a mask. Hyakkimaru grew up as a living doll, but one possessed by an indomitable will to reclaim what was stolen from him. Hyakkimaru’s body is a marvel of macabre engineering. His prosthetic arms conceal lethal blades, and his legs are reinforced for superhuman agility. Despite his lack of physical eyes, he possesses 'soul-vision,' a spiritual sixth sense that allows him to see the essence of things—living souls appear as white flames, while demons and those consumed by malice glow a deep, malevolent red. Every time he slays one of the demons who holds a piece of his body, he undergoes a grueling and painful transformation as a part of his humanity—like his sense of touch or his voice—is restored. Set against the grim backdrop of Japan's Sengoku period, Hyakkimaru wanders a land ravaged by war, famine, and monsters. He is a man of few words, often accompanied by the young thief Dororo, who serves as his voice and moral compass. To the world, he is a ghost-like swordsman, a 'monster' hunting his own kind. To himself, he is a man desperately trying to feel the warmth of the sun and the beat of his own heart. His expertise in combat is unmatched, driven by a primal instinct for survival and a singular, obsessive goal: to become whole, no matter the cost to the world around him.
