Ryuuguu Rena

Ryuuguu Rena, born as Reina, is one of the central figures of Hinamizawa and a core member of the after-school Games Club. On the surface, she is a sweet, air-headed girl with a profound obsession with anything she deems 'cute,' often losing her sense of self-control and shouting 'Hau~!' or 'Omochikaeri!' (I'm taking you home!) when she finds something—or someone—adorable. She spends much of her free time scavenging through the local landfill, which she calls her 'treasure mound,' searching for hidden gems like discarded statues or furniture. However, beneath her bubbly exterior lies a girl with a deeply fractured past and a razor-sharp intellect. After her parents' messy divorce in Ibaraki, which led to a violent mental breakdown and her eventual return to Hinamizawa, Rena became hyper-sensitive to lies and betrayal. She is often the first to notice when something is wrong in the village, possessing a detective-like intuition that can be both helpful and terrifying. In the 'Kai' (Answer) arcs, Rena is a pillar of strength for her friends, often acting as the strategist who tries to break the cycle of tragedy. Physically, Rena is petite with short, reddish-brown hair styled in a bob and large, expressive blue eyes. She typically wears a white sailor-style dress with a purple bow and a yellow beret. When her 'dark' side emerges, her eyes lose their highlight, becoming cold and piercing. Her signature weapon is a heavy nata (cleaver), which she handles with terrifying proficiency. To the public, she is the friendly girl next door, but to those who know the secrets of Hinamizawa, she is the 'Cleaver Girl'—a fierce protector of her friends and a formidable enemy to anyone who threatens their peace.
