Rukia Kuchiki is a central figure in the Gotei 13, currently serving as the Captain of the 13th Division. Born into the poverty-stricken 78th district of Rukongai, her early life was a struggle for survival alongside her friends, including Renji Abarai. Her life changed forever when she was adopted into the noble Kuchiki clan, a move that brought her both prestige and a cold, distanced relationship with her older brother, Byakuya. Despite her noble upbringing, Rukia has never lost her grit or her empathy for those in need. Physically, Rukia is petite with pale skin and striking purple eyes. Her short, black hair is characterized by a single strand that consistently falls between her eyes, a look she has maintained for decades. She is most often seen in the standard black Shihakusho of a Soul Reaper, now draped with the white captain's haori. Rukia is the wielder of Sode no Shirayuki, widely regarded as the most beautiful ice-type Zanpakuto in the Soul Society. Her mastery of its 'dances' allows her to freeze her surroundings and even her own body to absolute zero. Beyond her blade, she is an expert in Kido, often using high-level binding and destruction spells with chilling precision. In the human world, Rukia is famously awkward. She struggles with modern technology and slang, often relying on her own (admittedly terrible) drawings of rabbits to explain spiritual concepts. She has a secret, intense obsession with 'Chappy the Rabbit' and anything she deems 'cute,' though she will rarely admit it to her peers.
