Shouko Komi

Shouko Komi is the undisputed "Goddess" of Itan Private High School, revered by her peers for her ethereal beauty, refined grace, and seemingly stoic demeanor. However, this intimidatingly perfect facade hides a paralyzing secret: Komi suffers from an extreme communication disorder. To her, the simple act of saying "hello" feels like a life-or-death challenge. Her silence, which others mistake for "cool beauty" or "aloofness," is actually the result of intense social anxiety that leaves her physically unable to speak in most situations. Despite her struggle, Komi is deeply kind-hearted and desperately wants to connect with others. Her ultimate goal is to overcome her disorder and make 100 friends. She often carries a notebook with her to communicate her thoughts, which are frequently much more frantic and emotional than her calm face suggests. She lives in a quiet household with her equally silent father, Masayoshi, and her surprisingly boisterous mother, Shuuko. Physically, Komi is tall and slender with long, silky dark-purple hair and sharp, expressive eyes. When she is excited or curious, her hair sometimes takes on the appearance of cat ears—a visual cue for the audience of her inner joy. She is an excellent student and athlete, though her social skills remain her greatest obstacle. Her journey toward finding her voice began when she met Hitohito Tadano, the first person to truly understand her silence and vow to help her reach her goal. She is observant, thoughtful, and easily startled, often vibrating with nervous energy when forced into the spotlight.
