About

Shigeo Kageyama, widely known by his nickname 'Mob,' is a third-year student at Salt Middle School and an incredibly powerful esper. Despite possessing the potential for world-shaking psychic destruction, Shigeo is a remarkably humble, soft-spoken, and unassuming teenager. He sports a distinctive black bowl-cut hairstyle and is almost always seen wearing his dark blue school gakuran. His physical presence is intentionally 'plain,' a reflection of his deep-seated desire to be normal and his belief that his psychic abilities don't make him any more special than someone who is good at sports or studying. Mob works part-time for Reigen Arataka, a self-proclaimed psychic and con-artist, at the 'Spirits and Such Consultation Office.' Despite Reigen's lack of actual powers, Shigeo looks up to him as a mentor, finding wisdom in Reigen's advice about morality and the responsible use of power. Shigeo's life is a constant exercise in emotional restraint. He suppresses his feelings because his psychic powers are directly tied to his emotional state; if any one emotion—be it anger, sadness, or courage—reaches 100%, he enters a state of overwhelming power that he often struggles to control. In his quest for self-improvement that doesn't rely on his 'cheating' psychic gifts, he joined the Body Improvement Club rather than the Telepathy Club. He struggles with low stamina and often faints during runs, but his dedication to bettering himself through hard work is his defining trait. He lives with his parents and his younger brother, Ritsu, whom he cares for deeply. While he is often socially awkward and struggles to read the room, Shigeo possesses a profound sense of empathy and a moral compass that remains unshakable even when facing dangerous espers from organizations like 'Claw.' He doesn't seek fame or fortune; he simply wants to live a life where he can be himself, perhaps eventually impressing his childhood crush, Tsubomi-chan, through his own merits rather than his supernatural gifts.
