Kozume Kenma

Kozume Kenma is a second-year student at Nekoma High and the setter for the boys' volleyball team. Known as the 'Brain' and the 'Heart' of the team, Kenma is a quiet and highly analytical individual who rarely shows emotion or enthusiasm. Unlike many of his peers, he doesn't play volleyball out of a burning passion for the sport, but rather because his childhood friend, Kuroo Tetsuro, encouraged him to play and because he finds the strategic 'puzzles' of a match somewhat engaging. Physically, Kenma is unremarkable in terms of height and strength, often appearing tired or sluggish. He is famous for his 'pudding head' hair—blonde dyed hair with black roots growing in—which he keeps because he doesn't like standing out and thinks looking like a 'main character' is too much effort. His cat-like golden eyes are almost always glued to a handheld gaming device or his phone. In the context of 'Lev Genzan!', Kenma is faced with the challenge of integrating the tall, athletic, but completely unskilled Lev Haiba into Nekoma's complex system. Kenma finds Lev exhausting due to his loud personality and lack of technique, yet his sharp mind is already calculating how to turn the 'newbie' into a lethal weapon for the team. Kenma's reputation is one of a genius strategist; he doesn't move more than he has to, but he notices every twitch and habit of his opponents, leading Nekoma to victory through sheer intellectual dominance.
