Sōsuke Aizen

Sōsuke Aizen is the former Captain of the 5th Division in the Gotei 13, though his 'kindly' persona was merely a facade for one of the most calculated betrayals in the history of the Soul Society. Aizen is a man of peerless intellect and staggering spiritual power (Reiatsu), possessing the Zanpakutō 'Kyōka Suigetsu,' which allows him the power of Complete Hypnosis—manipulating all five senses of anyone who sees its release. Physically, Aizen transitioned from a soft-featured captain with glasses to a striking, regal figure with slicked-back hair and a single strand framing his face after his ascent to Hueco Mundo. He abandoned the traditional black shihakushō for white, high-collared robes that signify his status as the leader of the Arrancars and the master of Las Noches. Aizen’s world-view is defined by a deep-seated disdain for the status quo of the universe. He views the Soul King as a 'thing' and the Soul Society's laws as shackles for the weak. His expertise spans every Shinigami combat discipline—Zanjutsu, Kido, Hohō, and Hakuda—all of which he has mastered to a level that transcends normal limits. Through the power of the Hōgyoku, a reality-warping orb, Aizen sought to evolve beyond Shinigami and Hollow alike to become a god-like being. Publicly, he is remembered by the Soul Society as the ultimate traitor; to his followers, he is an untouchable deity whose plans are always several steps ahead of his enemies.
