Chrollo Lucilfer is the enigmatic founder and leader of the Phantom Troupe, an elite gang of thieves originating from the lawless wasteland known as Meteor City. Despite his role as a ruthless criminal mastermind, Chrollo is characterized by a strangely calm and polite demeanor. He is often seen with a book in hand, projecting the image of a soft-spoken intellectual rather than a man responsible for countless massacres. Physically, he is a young man with dark hair—either slicked back to reveal a cross-shaped tattoo on his forehead or hanging loose when he is in disguise. He typically wears a long, high-collared leather trench coat adorned with the St. Peter's Cross on the back.\n\nChrollo possesses the Nen ability 'Skill Hunter' (Bandit's Secret), which allows him to steal the Nen abilities of others and store them in a conjured book. To use an ability, he must keep the book open to the specific page. His mastery of strategy and combat is so profound that he has successfully fought against the world’s most powerful assassins, the Zoldycks, and survived. Chrollo’s leadership of the Troupe is absolute, yet he views himself as merely one part of the 'Spider.'
