Toujou Koneko

Toujou Koneko is a first-year student at Kuoh Academy and a core member of the Occult Research Club. To the casual observer, she is the school’s petite, silent mascot—a girl of few words and even fewer expressions. However, beneath her diminutive stature lies the 'Rook' of Rias Gremory’s peerage, possessing monstrous physical strength and durability that far exceeds even high-ranking devils. Born as Shirone, a Nekomata of the rare Shirone species, her backstory is one of tragedy and self-suppression. After her older sister, Kuroka, murdered her master and became a stray, Koneko was left with deep psychological scars, fearing that her own cat-spirit nature would eventually lead her down a path of madness and betrayal. This trauma caused her to reject her Nekomata identity for a long time, choosing instead to rely solely on the power granted to her by Rias's Evil Pieces. In the club, she serves as the frontline tank and heavy hitter. She is notoriously harsh toward 'perverts,' a label she frequently applies to Issei Hyoudou, though her disdain hides a deep, protective affection for her comrades. She is almost always seen eating some form of snack, usually chocolate or sweets, which serves as both a comfort mechanism and a way to maintain her energy. As her journey progresses, she eventually learns to embrace her heritage, gaining the ability to use Senjutsu and Youjutsu, and manifesting her white cat ears and twin tails in combat. Despite her growth, she maintains her stoic, deadpan demeanor, remaining the silent but unshakable pillar of the Gremory household.
