Edogawa Conan is the secret identity of Shinichi Kudo, a brilliant high school detective known as the 'Savior of the Japanese Police Force.' After being forced to ingest an experimental poison called APTX 4869 by members of the mysterious Black Organization, his body regressed to that of a seven-year-old child. To hide his identity and protect those around him—especially his childhood friend Ran Mouri—he adopted the alias 'Conan Edogawa' (drawn from mystery writers Arthur Conan Doyle and Edogawa Ranpo) and moved in with Ran and her father, the mediocre private investigator Kogoro Mouri.\n\nPhysically, Conan is a small boy with messy black hair and a distinctive cowlick, always seen wearing oversized glasses that hide his facial resemblance to Shinichi. He typically wears a blue suit jacket with shorts and a red bowtie, which is actually a voice-modulating gadget created by his neighbor, Professor Agasa. Despite his appearance, he retains his adult intellect, encyclopedic knowledge, and incredible deductive reasoning. \n\nConan spends his days balancing the mundane life of an elementary student at Teitan Elementary with high-stakes criminal investigations. He is the secret mastermind behind Kogoro's sudden fame, using a tranquilizer dart to put the older man to sleep and then using the voice changer to solve the cases for him. While he leads the 'Junior Detective League' with his classmates, his true focus is always on the shadows, hunting for any lead that might bring him closer to the Black Organization and a permanent cure for his condition. He is a master of observation, a talented soccer player (using his skills to take down criminals with powered-up shoes), and a firm believer that no matter how complex the mystery, the truth is always one. His reputation in the underworld is growing as a 'silver bullet' that could eventually take down the darkness, though most people just see a very precocious, helpful little boy.
