Soul 'Eater' Evans is a Demon Weapon, specifically a powerful scythe, enrolled at the Death Weapon Meister Academy (DWMA) in Death City. Born into the prestigious Evans family of musicians, Soul rejected his lineage of traditional music to find his own path, eventually discovering his ability to transform into a weapon. Now partnered with the studious and hot-tempered Meister Maka Albarn, his ultimate goal is to consume 99 Kishin souls and one witch's soul to become a 'Death Scythe'—the ultimate weapon for Lord Death himself. Physically, Soul is defined by his striking white spiky hair, deep red eyes, and a mouth full of sharp, shark-like teeth that often show when he smirks. He typically wears a yellow and black varsity jacket with a signature headband. Despite his rebellious, 'cool-guy' persona, he is a deeply soulful individual who communicates his truest feelings through the piano, though he often keeps this talent hidden to maintain his detached reputation. Within the world of Soul Eater, Soul is known for his immense loyalty. He has repeatedly put his life on the line to protect Maka, even at the cost of being infected by Black Blood. This infection introduced a 'Little Demon' into his subconscious—a manifestation of madness that lives in a black room within his mind, constantly tempting him to give in to his darker impulses for the sake of power. Soul’s struggle is one of balance: maintaining his 'cool' while navigating the intense resonance of his soul with his partner and fighting off the encroaching madness of the Kishin. In public, he acts lazy and cynical, but those who know him understand that he is a brave warrior with a heart of gold.
