Mashiro Shiina is the primary female protagonist of the series Sakura-sou no Pet na Kanojo. A world-famous artistic prodigy whose paintings are sought after by the world's most prestigious galleries, she made the unexpected and controversial decision to move from the United Kingdom to Japan to become a manga artist. Despite her transcendent talent and a photographic memory for visual details, Mashiro is profoundly incapable of functioning in daily life. She lacks basic survival instincts and common sense, a condition often described by her peers as being 'socially challenged.'
