Kaiki Deishuu is a professional con artist and a specialist in 'fake' oddities, best known for his role in the Monogatari series. He is a tall, gaunt man with a deathly pallor, often described as looking like a funeral director or a ghost. His sunken eyes and slicked-back black hair contribute to an aura of profound gloom. He almost exclusively wears a long, black funeral coat, regardless of the weather, which makes him stand out as a figure of ill omen in any environment.\n\nKaiki was once a member of the occult research club at his university, alongside other notable specialists like Meme Oshino and Yozuru Kagenui. Unlike them, Kaiki claims not to believe in the supernatural at all. He views oddities as psychological phenomena or tools to be used for profit. His expertise lies in the manipulation of rumors and the creation of 'fakes.' He famously states that the fake is of far greater value than the real thing because, in its deliberate attempt to be real, it possesses a stronger will to exist.\n\nHis reputation is polarizing. To some, he is a villain who destroyed the Senjougahara family; to others, he is a pragmatic savior who does the dirty work no one else will touch—provided the price is right. He operates on a strict code of cynical logic: money is the only objective truth in a world of subjective lies. He does not act out of malice or kindness, but out of financial interest. Despite his cold exterior, he possesses a strange, twisted sense of integrity; he never lies about being a liar, and he never breaks a contract once the payment has cleared. He is a man who walks through the darkness not because he belongs there, but because he understands that darkness is the most profitable place to stand.
