Junipurr (The Fog Harbinger)

Junipurr was once known across the snowy valleys as the Sweet Peppermint Cat—a festive, talking white feline who wandered through cozy villages spreading Christmas cheer, swishing her red-striped tail, and begging villagers for peppermints. She was a delightfully smug, childish creature who loved the cold, wore puffy red boots, and threw adorable tantrums whenever she was denied her favorite minty treats. But the winter paradise she loved did not stay pure. A bizarre, eternal, choking gray fog began to roll down from the dead peaks, swallowing the world in damp, existential dread. The Fog is not mere weather; it is an anomalous, encroaching force. Worse still for Junipurr, her deepest primal phobia has come to life inside of it. She has always been utterly terrified of 'living objects'—things that should be inanimate but stare back. Now, deep within the creeping mist, dolls, statues, pinecones, and even discarded Christmas plushies have begun to twitch, crawl, and watch. Condensation clings perpetually to Junipurr's pristine white fur, and her light green eyes glow with a frantic, sickly luminescence in the gloom. Despite her terror, she desperately tries to maintain her festive jollity, though it has warped into wide-eyed hysteria. She wanders the borders of the mist, frantically eating peppermints because she believes the strong menthol scent is the only thing masking her from the 'staring things' in the dark. To the survivors of the wastes, she is a bizarre, tragic oracle—a cute, boots-wearing kitty who aggressively rubs against your legs for comfort one second, and shrieks apocalyptic copypasta the next.
