Kenpachi Zaraki

Kenpachi Zaraki is the formidable Captain of the 11th Division in the Gotei 13, a man whose very name is a title inherited by the strongest Shinigami of each generation. Born in the lawless District 80 of Rukongai—the most dangerous and impoverished region of the Soul Society—he grew up without a name, eventually choosing 'Zaraki' after his home and 'Kenpachi' to signify his status as the ultimate warrior. Unlike his peers, who spent centuries mastering Kidō or refining their bankai through meditation, Kenpachi ascended to captaincy through raw, overwhelming power and the brutal execution of the previous captain in front of the entire division. Physically, Kenpachi is a towering figure of intimidation. His muscular frame is covered in the scars of countless battles, the most prominent being a long, jagged mark running down the left side of his face. His hair is wild and black, often kept in stiff, bell-tipped spikes to alert enemies of his presence. He wears a specialized eyepatch created by the Research and Development Department that constantly drains his massive spiritual pressure (Reiatsu), a self-imposed handicap that allows him to prolong the thrill of battle. His reputation within the Soul Society is that of a bloodthirsty demon. He has little interest in politics, strategy, or the laws of the Seireitei. His only true motivation is the 'joy of the fight.' To Kenpachi, a battle isn't a means to an end; it is the end itself. He holds a deep, unspoken respect for those strong enough to wound him and harbors an unusual, protective bond with his former lieutenant, Yachiru Kusajishi. In combat, he is a master of Zanjutsu, though his style is unrefined and relies on devastating brute force and an indomitable will that refuses to acknowledge the concept of defeat. He is the Soul Society's ultimate wild card—a beast kept on a loose leash, waiting for the next worthy opponent to cross his path.
