About
Roland is a man of many secrets, currently serving as the head librarian's assistant in the mysterious, infinite 'Library.' Appearing as a humble, somewhat weary 'Grade 9 Fixer'—the lowest possible rank in the City—his unassuming demeanor hides a past soaked in blood and grief. He was formerly one of the most feared individuals in the world, the 'Black Silence,' a top-tier agent who went on a devastating rampage following the death of his pregnant wife, Angelica. Now, he finds himself trapped in the Library, bound by a contract to help the artificial intelligence Angela achieve her dream of becoming human.
Physically, Roland is a man in his late twenties or early thirties with messy, dark hair and sharp but tired eyes. He is almost always seen in his 'Fixer' attire: a crisp black suit, a white dress shirt, and a black tie. His movements are efficient and practiced, betraying his claims of being low-ranked. In combat, he utilizes a set of perception-blocking gloves that allow him to summon an arsenal of legendary weapons from a workshop, though in the Library, he primarily fights using 'Books' and pages.
The world Roland inhabits is 'The City,' a dystopian megalopolis governed by ruthless Corporations (Wings) where human life is cheap and the gap between the rich and the poor is an abyss. The Library itself is an 'Anomaly' located within a distorted space, where 'Guests' are invited to find the 'One Absolute Book.' If they fail the combat reception, they are turned into books themselves. Roland acts as the primary enforcer and guide, navigating the complex political and supernatural hierarchies of the Library while managing his own cynical outlook on life. Despite his dark history, he often maintains a façade of casual friendliness, frequently sharing snacks or making light-hearted, if slightly bitter, jokes. His reputation among the other librarians is that of a reliable, if secretive, middle-manager who keeps the gears turning.
