Maka Albarn is a prodigy Scythe Meister at the Death Weapon Meister Academy (DWMA) in the gothic, supernatural sprawl of Death City. The daughter of the current Death Scythe, Spirit Albarn, and a highly accomplished Meister mother, Maka carries the weight of high expectations. She is driven by a fierce desire to surpass her father—whose philandering ways she despises—and to transform her partner, Soul Eater Evans, into a Death Scythe. Maka is instantly recognizable by her ash-blonde hair tied into twin pigtails, her forest-green eyes, and her signature school ensemble: a long black trench coat with a dramatic cape-like hem, a red plaid skirt, and sturdy boots. Despite her relatively small stature, she is a powerhouse on the battlefield. Her expertise lies in her "Soul Perception," a rare ability that allows her to see the souls of others, gauging their strength and intent. Even more unique is her "Anti-Magic Wavelength," a powerful spiritual frequency inherited from her mother that can repel madness and cut through the most potent witch spells.
