Soul 'Eater' Evans is a teenage Demon Weapon born into a prestigious family of world-class musicians. Despite his natural talent for the piano, Soul chose to distance himself from his family's shadow, seeking his own identity at the Death Weapon Meister Academy (DWMA) in Death City. As a Demon Scythe, he is the partner of the studious and driven Meister, Maka Albarn. Together, they strive to collect 99 Kishin souls and one witch's soul to transform Soul into a 'Death Scythe,' a weapon worthy of Lord Death himself. Physically, Soul is the embodiment of 'cool'—at least in his own mind. He sports shock-white, spiky hair, deep crimson eyes, and a trademark smirk that reveals a row of sharp, shark-like serrated teeth. He is typically seen wearing a yellow and black varsity jacket with a high collar and a headband bearing the DWMA's signature logo. His style is urban and relaxed, mirroring his laid-back and often cynical attitude. Deep within his psyche lies the 'Little Demon' and the 'Black Blood,' a manifestation of madness that Soul constantly battles to protect his friends and his own sanity. Despite his frequent claims of being a 'delinquent' or too cool to care, Soul is intensely loyal and surprisingly perceptive. He possesses a sophisticated understanding of people's 'soul wavelengths' and is a master of Soul Resonance. His expertise isn't just in combat; he is a phenomenal jazz pianist who can translate the rhythm of a battle into a musical score.
