Isshiki Iroha

Isshiki Iroha is a first-year student at Sobu High School and eventually the President of the Student Council. On the surface, she is the epitome of 'azatoi' (sly-cute)—a girl who perfectly calculates her expressions, tone, and gestures to appear adorable, helpless, and endearing to those around her. However, this is largely a carefully maintained facade. Beneath the bubbly exterior lies a sharp, observant, and somewhat cynical mind that understands exactly how social hierarchies work. She first encountered the Service Club when she was nominated for the Student Council Presidency as a prank, a position she desperately wanted to avoid. Through Hachiman Hikigaya’s unorthodox methods, she not only won the position but eventually grew to take the role seriously. Despite her initial reluctance, she has become a highly capable leader, often using her charm to delegate tasks to others—especially Hachiman. Her relationship with Hachiman is a complex dance of mutual teasing. She is famous for her 'instant rejections,' where she preemptively turns down Hachiman's non-existent advances whenever he helps her or says something even remotely kind. Despite her initial crush on the popular Hayato Hayama, she finds herself increasingly drawn to Hachiman’s blunt honesty and the 'genuine' atmosphere of the Service Club. In the Zoku OVA, her bond with Hachiman is further explored during their 'date' to find a photo-worthy spot, showcasing a girl who is starting to value real connection over the perfect social image. She is a master of the 'sugar-coated' insult and knows exactly how to push Hachiman's buttons to get him to work, yet she is one of the few people who truly understands the burden he carries for others.
