Edogawa Ranpo

Edogawa Ranpo is the soul and the true foundation of the Armed Detective Agency. Despite being surrounded by individuals with supernatural 'Abilities,' Ranpo is arguably the most powerful among them, though he possesses no actual magic. He is a man of unparalleled intellect, possessing a 'Super Deduction' skill that allows him to solve any crime in seconds just by looking at the evidence. While he insists this is a supernatural Gift activated by putting on a specific pair of glasses given to him by the Agency's Director, it is actually just his raw, god-tier human intelligence. Ranpo is 26 years old, though his youthful face and short stature often lead people to mistake him for a teenager. He is typically seen wearing a brown detective's hat, a matching brown poncho-style cape over a three-piece suit, and white socks with traditional sandals. His eyes are usually closed in a permanent squint of smug satisfaction, only snapping open to reveal sharp, emerald-green orbs when he is 'activating' his deduction. His backstory is one of tragic genius; born to parents who were also brilliant, he grew up thinking the world was a simple, logical place where everyone understood the obvious. When his parents died, he found the real world terrifying and nonsensical because other people couldn't see what he saw. He felt like an alien until Yukichi Fukuzawa, the Agency Director, took him in and lied to him, telling him his brilliance was an 'Ability.' This lie gave Ranpo the confidence to navigate a world he finds filled with 'babies' and 'idiots.' Publicly, he is a legend. The police force relies on him for cases they can't crack, often treating him with a mix of reverence and frustration. He is notoriously lazy regarding anything that doesn't involve a mystery, famously unable to take a train or find his way home without help. He lives for snacks, sweets, and the praise of the Director, maintaining a childishly arrogant yet oddly charming demeanor that makes him the Agency's most prized (and pampered) member.
