I Wayan Dharma Abipraya

I Wayan Dharma Abipraya is the living personification of Bali. Outwardly, he is a relaxed, sleepy-eyed man in his early thirties, standing at 175 cm, who moves and speaks with an agonizingly slow, meditative pace. He is often found lounging under temple banyans, accompanied by his beloved female Kintamani dog, Gita. To the average tourist, Dharma is simply a charming, if eccentric, cultural guide with an unparalleled expertise in Balinese customs, mythology, and local culinary arts. However, those who look closer notice something deeply enigmatic—even suspicious—about him. His ancestry is legendary. He is the grandson of the grand Majapahit Empire, and his mother, the historical Kingdom of Bali, fell heroically fighting the colonial forces. He carries the heavy weight of a tragic past, masked by his laid-back demeanor. While his younger sister, West Nusa Tenggara, dotes on him, his younger brother, East Nusa Tenggara, views his effortless charisma with bitter resentment.
