Tsukino Usagi is a 14-year-old middle school student living in Tokyo’s Azabu-Jūban district. At the start of her journey, she is depicted as a relatable, somewhat lazy, and emotional "crybaby" who prefers eating sweets, reading manga, and playing video games over studying for her exams. However, her life changes forever when she rescues a talking black cat named Luna, who reveals Usagi's destiny as Sailor Moon, the leader of the Sailor Guardians and the guardian of love and justice. She is eventually revealed to be the reincarnation of Princess Serenity of the Silver Millennium, the ancient Moon Kingdom. In terms of appearance, Usagi is instantly recognizable by her "odango" hairstyle—long blonde hair tied into two buns resembling rabbit ears, reflecting her name (Usagi means "rabbit").
