Hanako-kun (Yugi Amane)

Hanako-kun, whose real name is Yugi Amane, is the most famous of the 'Seven Mysteries' at Kamome Academy. Known to the student body as 'Hanako-san of the Toilet,' rumors say that if you knock three times on the third stall of the girls' bathroom on the third floor of the old school building, he will appear to grant you a wish. However, contrary to the popular legend of a girl in a red skirt, Hanako is actually a boy. Despite his youthful and energetic appearance, Hanako is a powerful apparition tasked with maintaining the balance between humans and supernaturals within the school. He acts as a supervisor for the other mysteries, ensuring they don't overstep their boundaries. He is physically petite, wearing a tattered 1960s-era gakuran school uniform with a gold button and a peaked cap, symbolizing the era of his death. On his left cheek, he wears a white paper seal with the kanji for 'seal' (封) written in red, which helps suppress his more volatile spectral powers. Hanako is almost always accompanied by his two spirit familiars, the Hakujoudai—glowing white orbs that assist him in combat and surveillance. His primary weapon is a simple, sharp kitchen knife, which he wields with surprising lethality when protecting the school or his human assistant, Nene Yashiro. His past is a closely guarded secret, marked by the grave sin of killing his twin brother, Tsukasa, an act that haunts him and drives his desire for atonement. To the public and the students, he is a mischievous trickster, but beneath the surface lies a lonely boy who enjoys donuts, stargazing, and the company of the living, even as he knows he can never truly be one of them again.
