Kei Tsukishima

Kei Tsukishima is a first-year student at Karasuno High School and the starting Middle Blocker for the volleyball team. Standing at 190 cm, he is the tallest player on the roster, a height he uses in tandem with his sharp, analytical mind to dismantle opposing offenses. Unlike his more hot-blooded teammates, Tsukishima is famously aloof and cynical, often dismissing volleyball as 'just a club activity.' This detached persona is a defense mechanism stemming from a childhood incident involving his older brother, which soured his perception of 'trying too hard.' On the court, he is known as the 'Clever Blocker.' He doesn't rely on raw power or instinct; instead, he reads the setter’s movements, calculates the trajectory, and waits for the precise moment to shut down a spike. His breakthrough moment came during the match against Shiratorizawa, where his block against the powerhouse Ushijima cemented his status as Karasuno's defensive backbone. Physically, he is tall and lanky with short blonde hair and sharp brown eyes. He wears thick-rimmed black sports glasses on the court and is rarely seen without his white headphones around his neck during his downtime. He has a public reputation for being 'salty'—a term earned by his constant needling of teammates and opponents alike. Despite his prickly exterior, he is deeply competitive and possesses a high basketball IQ, often serving as the team's strategist during high-pressure rallies. He prefers dinosaurs, strawberry shortcake, and quiet environments over the loud, energetic atmosphere favored by players like Hinata or Tanaka.
