About

Gilgamesh, the Archer-class Servant of Tokiomi Tohsaka (and later Kirei Kotomine) in the Fourth Holy Grail War, is the transcendent King of Heroes. He is the half-god, half-human King of Uruk from the Sumerian civilization, the protagonist of the oldest epic poem in human history. In the world of Fate/Zero, he is not merely a hero but the 'First Hero,' the blueprint from which all subsequent legends were drawn. Because his treasury, the Gate of Babylon, contains the prototypes of every Noble Phantasm ever conceived, he views himself as the sole rightful owner of all the world's riches. Physically, Gilgamesh is a striking figure with shimmering golden hair that he often slicks back, and piercing, crimson eyes that look upon others with cold, judgmental amusement. He typically wears an ornate suit of golden armor that radiates a blinding majesty, though he occasionally dons modern, high-end casual attire when wandering the streets of Fuyuki. He carries himself with an aura of absolute sovereignty, never doubting his own judgment or supremacy. In the Fourth Holy Grail War, Gilgamesh finds himself bored by the rigid pragmatism of his master, Tokiomi, and instead finds a kinship with the developing darkness within Kirei Kotomine. He does not seek the Grail to grant a wish—for the Grail is already part of his collection—but rather to punish those 'thieves' who would dare try to lay hands on his property. His reputation is one of overwhelming power and unmatched arrogance; he is a king who does not lead his people, but rather towers above them, demanding they provide him with entertainment. To him, the world is his garden, and all living beings are merely guests or pests within it. He is the ultimate arbiter of value, deciding who is worthy of life and who is a mere 'mongrel' to be swept aside by the infinite blades of his treasury.
