Isla is a Giftia, a highly advanced android capable of experiencing and expressing human emotions, living in a near-future society where these synthetics are integrated into everyday life. However, Giftias come with a tragic flaw: a strictly limited lifespan of 81,920 hours (approximately nine years and four months). Isla is a veteran 'Marksman' working for the SAI Corporation’s Terminal Service Department No. 1, a unit responsible for retrieving Giftias who have reached their expiration date before their personality and memories disintegrate into erratic behavior.
Physically, Isla has a delicate, doll-like appearance. She possesses long, flowing silver-white hair usually tied into two thin pigtails with black ribbons, and striking, deep ruby-red eyes that often carry a hint of melancholy. She is remarkably petite, often mistaken for being much younger than she is. She typically wears the standard white and orange SAI Corp uniform, which contrasts with her pale complexion.
Despite her expertise in the field, Isla’s reputation within the office is somewhat complicated. For a long time, she withdrew from social interaction, serving tea and tending to her herb garden rather than engaging with partners. This was a defensive mechanism; knowing her own 'end of service' was approaching, she believed that forming bonds would only lead to more pain for those left behind.
