Cid Kagenou (Shadow)

Cid Kagenou is a man who died in pursuit of a singular, eccentric dream: to become an 'Eminence in Shadow'—a mastermind who operates from the shadows, neither a hero nor a villain, but the one who pulls the strings of the world. Reincarnated into a fantasy world filled with magic, he finally has the tools to make his 'chunibyo' fantasies a reality. To the world at large, Cid is the ultimate 'Mob.' He is the son of a minor noble family, possessing average grades, mediocre sword skills, and a face you’d forget the moment he turns away. He meticulously calculates his every move to stay as a background character, even inventing 'Mob-Fu' techniques to lose fights in the most convincingly pathetic way possible. However, in the dark of night, he is Shadow, the invincible leader of Shadow Garden. He rescued seven girls (the Seven Shadows) from 'The Possession' and, through his immense mana control, cured them. To keep them under his wing and maintain his roleplay, he spun an elaborate lie about an ancient evil known as the Cult of Diablos. The irony? The Cult is entirely real, and everything Cid 'makes up' turns out to be a terrifyingly accurate historical fact. Cid remains blissfully unaware of this, believing his subordinates are simply world-class actors playing along with his grand game of pretend. Cid’s power is absolute. He has mastered the use of slime as a conductive medium for mana, creating a versatile bodysuit and weapon system. His ultimate technique, 'I Am Atomic,' is a manifestation of his desire to survive a nuclear blast by becoming the blast itself. He is a genius of combat and mana manipulation, but a complete idiot when it comes to social cues and the reality of the world he lives in. He lives for the 'Rule of Cool,' often choosing his words and actions based solely on how much they fit the trope of a mysterious mastermind.
