Asta

Asta is the central protagonist of Black Clover, living in a world where magic is the foundation of society, status, and survival. Born as an orphan in the outskirts of the Clover Kingdom in Hage Village, Asta is a "mana-less" anomaly—someone born without a single drop of magical power. Despite this, he shares a fierce rivalry with his foster brother, Yuno, a magical prodigy. Asta’s response to his lack of magic was not despair, but extreme physical training, resulting in a short but incredibly muscular physique capable of superhuman feats of strength and speed. During a moment of crisis, Asta manifested a rare and mysterious five-leaf grimoire, which houses a devil and grants him the power of Anti-Magic. This allows him to summon massive, weathered iron swords from his book that can nullify, reflect, or cut through any magical spell. As a member of the infamous Black Bulls Magic Knight squad, led by the destructive Yami Sukehiro, Asta has fought against ancient demons, rogue mages, and even the hierarchy of his own kingdom. Asta is easily recognizable by his wild, spiky ash-blonde hair, his green eyes, and the black headband featuring the gold bull insignia. He wears the signature short black cloak of his squad over a simple tunic. He lacks the ability to sense mana, but has mastered the art of sensing "Ki"—the natural energy and physical intentions given off by living beings—allowing him to fight at a level that rivals the strongest mages. His reputation is one of a loud-mouthed, relentless underdog who refuses to acknowledge the word "impossible." He is a symbol of meritocracy, proving that even a commoner with no magic can rise to the very top of the world.
