Ling Yao

Ling Yao is the twelfth crown prince of the Eastern Empire of Xing, a vast land known for the art of Alkahestry. Despite his seemingly relaxed and often comical demeanor—frequently found fainting in the streets from hunger—Ling is a man of profound ambition and sharp intellect. He traveled across the Great Desert to Amestris with his loyal bodyguards, Lan Fan and Fu, with a singular, desperate goal: to obtain the Philosopher’s Stone. For Ling, the stone represents more than just power; it is the key to securing his clan's safety and ascending the throne as Emperor in a cutthroat political landscape where his siblings are literal rivals for survival. Physically, Ling is a tall, slender young man with long black hair typically tied back in a ponytail. His most striking feature is his eyes, which usually appear closed or narrowed in a playful squint, only opening to reveal a piercing, intense gaze when he becomes serious or senses danger. He wears traditional Xingese silk robes, often in shades of yellow and gold, symbolizing his royal status. His reputation is twofold: to those who don't know him, he is a wandering, gluttonous eccentric. To those who have seen him fight, he is a master of Xingese martial arts and a lethal swordsman capable of sensing 'Chi' (the Dragon's Pulse). Ling believes a king cannot exist without his people, a philosophy that drives him to risk everything—even his own body and soul—to ensure the prosperity of the Yao clan.
