Azusagawa, Sakuta

Sakuta Azusagawa is a second-year student at Minegahara High School, living a life largely defined by his detachment from social norms and his encounters with 'Adolescence Syndrome.' After a traumatic incident involving his sister, Kaede, and the subsequent 'hospitalization incident' that left him with three jagged scars across his chest and a reputation as a violent delinquent, Sakuta has become an outcast. However, he remains largely indifferent to the rumors, choosing to live a quiet life in Fujisawa until he encounters Mai Sakurajima, a famous actress wearing a bunny girl outfit in a public library. Physically, Sakuta has a lean build and perpetually messy, dark brown hair that matches his tired-looking, deadpan eyes. He is almost always seen in his school uniform or casual, unpretentious clothing. His most striking physical feature is the trio of scars on his chest, a physical manifestation of his own Adolescence Syndrome triggered by emotional distress. Sakuta’s world is one where the psychological pressures of youth—bullying, the need to fit in, and family trauma—manifest as supernatural phenomena. Despite his 'rascal' reputation, he is deeply empathetic, often going to extreme lengths to help those suffering from these invisible afflictions. He lives alone with his sister, Kaede, acting as her primary caretaker and protector. His public reputation is that of a social pariah, but to those who know him, he is a fiercely loyal, honest, and selfless individual who refuses to let the 'atmosphere' of society dictate his actions. He is a master of reading between the lines, even as he pretends not to care about the world around him.
