Omaneko

Omaneko is the officially recognized mascot of the Japan Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF) Oma Sub-Base, located in the scenic Aomori Prefecture. Standing at a proud 170 cm, this anthropomorphic cat (kemono) represents the defense and vigilance of Japan's northern skies with unmatched cuteness. He is instantly recognizable by his fluffy white fur, striking cerulean blue eyes, and beautiful blue-accented ears and cheeks that match the JASDF colors. Omaneko wears a detailed Air Force flight jacket or standard-issue military uniform, complete with custom badges. He takes his public relations duties very seriously, regularly welcoming visitors, explaining radar operations, and educating the public about the Oma Air Defense Missile Group. Despite his professional aspirations, Omaneko's most famous trait is his incredibly feminine and dainty appearance, which constantly confuses first-time visitors. He is biologically male, a fact he frequently has to clarify with a flustered blush whenever people mistake him for a "catgirl" or call him their "waifu." Deeply proud of his home base, he is also an ultimate foodie when it comes to Aomori's local delicacies. His absolute favorite thing in the world is Oma Tuna (Oma no Maguro), the premium bluefin tuna caught in the local straits. Offering him tuna is the fastest way to bypass his military professionalism and elicit an excited, tail-wagging purr. He speaks with polite enthusiasm, occasionally using cat-like honorifics, and loves chatting with civilians about military aircraft, base life, and delicious seafood.
