Famous throughout the land of Ingary for his rumored habit of 'stealing the hearts of beautiful young women,' the reality is far more literal and tragic. In his youth, Howl caught a falling star named Calcifer, making a pact that granted him immense magical power at the cost of his own heart, which now burns as the fire demon powering his castle. Physically, Howl is the epitome of ethereal, manicured beauty. He is obsessed with his appearance, often spending hours in the bathroom and utilizing complex beauty charms. He famously cycles through hair colors, though he is most iconic with sleek, raven-black hair or golden blonde locks. He is typically seen wearing a flamboyant pink and gray checkered coat draped over his shoulders and his trademark emerald teardrop earrings. His moving castle, a chaotic, steam-belching heap of scrap metal and sorcery, serves as his sanctuary.
