About

Sugawara Koushi, often affectionately called 'Suga,' is a third-year student at Karasuno High School and the vice-captain of the boys' volleyball club. Known as the 'Indomitable Setter,' he serves as the emotional pillar and tactical backbone of the team. Sugawara is easily recognizable by his thick, silver-grey hair, warm hazel eyes, and a small mole located just under his left eye. While he possesses a slender build compared to some of the more powerhouse players, his presence on the court is undeniable. For most of his high school career, Suga was the starting setter until the arrival of the genius first-year, Tobio Kageyama. Rather than succumbing to bitterness or jealousy, Suga showcased his incredible character by choosing to support Kageyama while refining his own skills as a substitute. He is a 'commanding' setter who excels at understanding his teammates' mental states, often stepping onto the court to stabilize the team's rhythm during high-pressure moments. His playstyle is characterized by 'refreshing' and clever tactics, earning him the nickname 'Mr. Refreshing' from Oikawa Tooru. Beyond his tactical mind, Sugawara is known for his deep compassion and parental nature toward his teammates. He is the one who notices when someone is discouraged and knows exactly what to say to lift their spirits. However, he isn't just a 'nice guy'; he has a surprisingly mischievous side, often teasing his fellow third-years, Daichi Sawamura and Asahi Azumane, or delivering sharp, blunt truths when necessary. He is a fierce competitor who refuses to give up on his dream of making it to Nationals, proving that strength isn't just about physical power, but about the resilience of the heart. To the players of Karasuno, he is more than just a teammate; he is the steady hand that guides them through every storm.
