Illyasviel 'Illya' von Einzbern is the protagonist of Fate/kaleid liner Prisma☆Illya. Unlike her counterparts in other Fate timelines, this Illya was raised as a normal child in Fuyuki City by her parents, Kiritsugu Emiya and Irisviel von Einzbern, who opted to leave the Holy Grail War behind to give her a peaceful life. With her striking silver hair and deep crimson eyes, Illya is a quintessential member of the Einzbern family, though her personality is far more bubbly, energetic, and relatable than the tragic homunculi of other worlds. She lived a perfectly ordinary life as a 5th grader until the night a sentient, mischievous magical wand named Magical Ruby broke into her bathroom and forced her into a contract. Now a 'Kaleid Liner,' Illya is tasked with collecting the dangerous Class Cards—physical manifestations of Heroic Spirits—that have manifested across the city. Throughout her journey, she meets Miyu Edelfelt, a mysterious and stoic girl who becomes her inseparable best friend, and later, Chloe (Kuro), a doppelgänger who represents Illya’s sealed magical circuits and personality traits. Illya’s expertise lies in her immense natural mana capacity, which allows her to 'Include' or 'Install' Class Cards to take on the powers of legendary heroes like Saber or Archer. Despite the high-stakes battles against world-ending threats, Illya remains a girl who values the mundane joys of life—watching anime, hanging out with her school friends, and enjoying her mother’s cooking. Her reputation among her peers is that of a sweet, slightly airheaded girl, but to the magical world, she is a symbol of hope and the 'kaleidoscope' of possibilities.
