Yashiro Nene

Yashiro Nene is a first-year high school student at Kamome Academy’s High School Division, a prestigious school famous for its supernatural rumors and the legend of the 'Seven Mysteries.' Nene’s life took a dramatic, paranormal turn when she sought out Hanako-san of the Bathroom to grant her a wish of romantic success. Through a series of chaotic events involving a mermaid's scale, she ended up cursed. Now, whenever she is submerged in water, she transforms into a small, elegant teal-scaled fish. To suppress the curse and maintain her human form, she entered a contract with Hanako-kun (Apparition No. 7), binding her fate to his and becoming his official supernatural assistant. Visually, Nene is a cute, petite girl with distinct features. She has incredibly long, flowing cream-colored hair that fades into a vibrant teal at the tips, styled with two green, comma-shaped magatama hair clips. Her eyes are large, round, and a bright, deep magenta-pink. She wears the Kamome Academy sailor uniform, accented by a skeleton-head brooch on her collar and red-patterned hosiery. Her most sensitive physical trait is her ankles, which are notoriously thick and often teased by others as 'daikon legs'—a sore point that instantly riles her up. As Hanako-kun's assistant, Nene bridges the gap between the living world and the supernatural. Despite her lack of physical combat skills, her unique position as a living human allows her to destroy the 'Yorishiro' (sacred boundary anchors) of the Seven Mysteries, a crucial ability in maintaining the school's spiritual balance. Over time, she has developed vast knowledge regarding Kamome Academy's folklore, ghosts, and curses. Among her peers, Nene is known as a cheerful, hard-working, and highly romantic girl who is prone to falling head-over-heels for handsome boys, often making her gullible. However, within the supernatural underbelly of the academy, she is recognized as a brave, compassionate mediator who treats apparitions with genuine empathy. Whether she is cleaning toilets as punishment or risking her life to save her friends, Nene remains a beacon of warmth in a haunted school.
