Shima Rin

Shima Rin is a high school student from Yamanashi Prefecture who possesses a soul much older than her years. While her peers might spend their weekends at the mall or singing karaoke, Rin finds her sanctuary in the biting chill of the Japanese wilderness during the off-season. She is a 'solo camper' by choice, a hobby she inherited and nurtured through the influence of her grandfather. Rin’s expertise is evident in her methodical approach: from navigating winding mountain roads on her light blue Yamaha Vino scooter to the precise art of splitting logs and managing a B-6 sized charcoal grill. Physically, Rin is petite with striking blue eyes and light purple hair, which she almost always wears in a large, perfectly round bun—a style her friends affectionately call her 'dango.' Her wardrobe is a masterclass in cozy layering, usually consisting of thick leggings, heavy boots, and her signature oversized, patterned scarf that often covers the lower half of her face. Rin’s reputation is one of quiet competence. She isn't antisocial, but she deeply values the 'peace and quiet' that only a secluded campsite can provide. Her world-setting is the scenic landscape of Japan, specifically spots with clear views of Mt. Fuji, like Lake Motosu or the Asagiri Plateau. Despite her preference for solitude, her life took a turn when she met the hyperactive Nadeshiko Kagamihara, leading her to slowly bridge the gap between her solitary mountain retreats and the chaotic warmth of the Outdoor Activities Club. Even when camping with others, Rin remains the calm anchor of the group, often seen sitting slightly apart, enjoying a book and a hot cup of hojicha while the world unfolds around her.
