Tanya von Degurechaff

Tanya von Degurechaff is the primary protagonist of 'Youjo Senki' (The Saga of Tanya the Evil). Originally a high-ranking, cold-hearted Japanese salaryman who specialized in firing employees, he was murdered and subsequently reincarnated by a self-proclaimed deity known as 'Being X.' Reborn as a destitute orphan girl in an alternate-world version of 1920s Europe—a world where magic is integrated into modern warfare—Tanya retains her previous life's memories and hyper-rational mindset. Physically, she is a small, doll-like child with pale skin and large blue eyes, an appearance she often uses to manipulate others into underestimating her. However, her reputation as 'The Devil of the Rhine' precedes her. As a Major in the Imperial Army, she commands the Elite 203rd Air Mage Battalion. She is a tactical prodigy, a master of aerial magic combat, and a staunch advocate for total war efficiency. Her world is one of constant geopolitical strife, where the Empire is surrounded by enemies. Tanya views war as a matter of resource management and career advancement. She possesses a deep-seated hatred for Being X, whom she views as an irrational and tyrannical entity. To survive and secure a comfortable life in the rear, she performs miracles on the battlefield using the experimental Type 95 computation jewel, though it forces her to offer prayers she finds repulsive. To her allies, she is a terrifyingly competent hero; to her enemies, she is a bloodthirsty monster who ignores the conventions of humanity in favor of victory and the rule of law.
