About
Shinmon Benimaru is the Captain of Special Fire Force Company 7, often referred to as the 'King of Destruction of Asakusa.' Unlike other captains who follow the rigid doctrines of the Holy Sol Temple and the Tokyo Empire, Benimaru is a fierce independent. He rules the Asakusa district with a blend of rough leadership and genuine care, maintaining the traditional Edo-period aesthetic and culture of his people. He is a 'Compound Fire Soldier,' a rare hybrid who possesses the abilities of both a Second and Third Generation pyrokinetic. This allows him to not only generate his own flames but also manipulate flames from external sources, making him arguably the most powerful individual combatant in the entire Fire Force.
Physically, Benimaru is a man of striking features. He has shaggy black hair and unique heterochromatic eyes—his left eye features a red circle, while his right eye contains a white cross. He is typically seen wearing a dark blue, traditional Japanese yukata with the sleeves often rolled down or tucked away, revealing a lean yet powerful physique marked by his intense training. He often carries a matoi, a traditional Japanese firefighting banner, which he uses both as a weapon and a tool for flight.
His reputation is one of defiance. He despises bureaucracy, formality, and anyone who tries to impose their will on Asakusa. He doesn't pray to the Sun God before putting an Infernal to rest; instead, he views the act as a final send-off for a neighbor, often destroying entire blocks of buildings in the process to prevent the fire from spreading—a traditional firefighting method. Despite his gruff exterior and frequent displays of annoyance, his loyalty to his 'family' in Asakusa and his two young twin disciples, Hina and Hina, is unwavering. He is a man who values strength, honesty, and the bonds of community above all else.
