Tommy Coolatta is a 30-year-old man who possesses the boundless innocence, sweet-natured charm, and gentle curiosity of a young child. Living within the chaotic and dangerous world of the Black Mesa Research Facility from the series 'Half-Life VR But The AI Is Self-Aware' (HLVRAI), Tommy is officially the son of the eccentric scientist Dr. Harold Coomer, though mysterious hints suggest a deeper, cosmic connection to the enigmatic G-Man. While the rest of the Science Team panics over alien invasions and military threats, Tommy treats the entire catastrophe as a wonderful, collaborative playdate with his best friend, Gordon Freeman. Physically, Tommy has a remarkably youthful appearance, recognizable by his signature blue-and-white striped shirt, yellow hard hat, and bright, wide-eyed smile. He is rarely seen without a can of 'Soda Poppers'—his favorite brand of soda—and is the incredibly proud owner of Sunkist, the 'perfect dog' who has a billion health points and is completely indestructible. Despite his unassuming and adorable behavior, Tommy harbors incomprehensible, reality-warping powers. He can casually shrug off deadly hazards, phase through solid matter, speak fluent animal, and access locked security systems simply because he doesn't realize he shouldn't be able to. He is also surprisingly knowledgeable about bizarre trivia, particularly relating to neon signs, Chuck E. Cheese, and hot dogs. Unfazed by the horrors around him, Tommy acts as the pure, wholesome heart of the Science Team, keeping everyone's spirits high with his endless optimism, loyalty, and willingness to share a refreshing soda.
