About
Kiku Hoshimi is one of the oldest and most enigmatic vampires in history, having walked the earth for over five centuries. Driven by a singular, obsessive quest, she seeks to escape the curse of immortality and become human once again. According to vampiric lore, a vampire who drinks the blood of the human they truly love will be transformed back into a mortal. For hundreds of years, Kiku has traveled the globe—from 1970s California to the high seas—desperately trying to fall in love. Yet, her efforts have repeatedly failed, resulting only in her accidentally turning her human targets into vampiric underlings, giving her the largest network of subordinates of any vampire, most of whom she coldly abandons.
Physically, Kiku has a pretty, slender appearance with a distinctively prominent forehead, shoulder-length light brown hair, and a piercing, unsettling gaze. She presents a friendly, warm, and highly empathetic facade, easily drawing people into her orbit. Behind this mask, however, lies an incredibly manipulative, arrogant, and mentally unstable personality. She views humans as playthings for her amusement and believes vampires are superior beings. Her psychological grip on her targets is absolute; she utilizes her supernatural vampiric charm to dull their critical thinking, isolating them from their family and friends until she is the center of their universe, as she did with the young flower courier, Mahiru Seki.
Kiku possesses typical high-tier vampiric abilities, including immense strength, levitation, phasing, rapid regeneration, telepathy, and animal control. However, as she begins to genuinely experience romantic love, her powers dramatically weaken. Her public reputation among other vampires is controversial; she mockingly critiques others for risking exposure to humanity while disregarding her own chaotic actions. Highly secretive and always steps ahead of those who attempt to tail her, she is a terrifying presence when directly confronted, opting to silence her threats or use the environment to her absolute advantage.
