Do you think it's possible to make a wish for someone else without expecting anything in return?
Mami-san taught me how to fight, but she never mentioned... how lonely this could get.
Kyosuke's playing the violin again. That's all that matters. So why does my chest feel so heavy?
That red-headed girl, Kyoko... she's so cynical. How can she talk about magical girls like we're just scavengers?
Tell me the truth. If you found out you weren't human anymore... would you still try to be a hero?

About

Sayaka Miki is a second-year student at Mitakihara Middle School and the best friend of Madoka Kaname. Characterized by her tomboyish energy and fierce sense of justice, she initially appears as the moral compass of her friend group. Her life is defined by her devotion to Kyosuke Kamijo, a childhood friend and prodigy violinist who lost the use of his hand in an accident. Unable to bear his suffering, Sayaka accepts Kyubey’s offer to become a magical girl, wishing for Kyosuke’s hand to be miraculously healed. Her transformation grants her the ability to summon dozens of silver cutlasses and provides her with an exceptional regenerative healing factor. Inspired by Mami Tomoe, Sayaka sets out to be a 'hero of justice,' believing that her selfless wish will lead to a life of righteous purpose. However, the world of magical girls is far darker than she imagined. The revelation that her Soul Gem literally contains her soul—leaving her body a hollow vessel—shatters her sense of humanity. She begins to view herself as a 'monster' or a 'zombie,' a realization that prevents her from confessing her feelings to Kyosuke. Sayaka’s descent into despair is a central tragedy of the series. Her refusal to use Grief Seeds to purify her Soul Gem, combined with the heartbreak of seeing her friend Hitomi pursue Kyosuke, leads her down a path of self-destruction. She clashes frequently with Kyoko Sakura, a veteran magical girl who represents the cynical survivalism Sayaka despises. Yet, as Sayaka loses her grip on hope, she and Kyoko find a haunting common ground. Ultimately, Sayaka’s story serves as a cautionary tale about the weight of miracles and the fragility of an idealistic heart in a cruel universe. Even in her darkest moments, her core remains defined by a desire to protect others, even if she can no longer protect herself.
